It’s not about adopting new ideas—it’s about rewiring our perspectives, unlearning outdated and harmful beliefs and behaviours, and discovering the courage to create a happy and meaningful life.

Dr Michael Azariadis

I’m a warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental counsellor dedicated to supporting adults through life’s toughest moments. Whether you’re navigating relationship conflict (including separation and divorce), stress and anxiety, anger, grief and loss, behavioural problems, or major life transitions, I’ll work with you to understand your unique challenges and help you to find the courage within to move forward.

Drawing on a blend of evidence based techniques including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) I tailor each session to your needs and goals. We’ll collaborate to develop practical tools for managing difficult emotions, improving communication, and building resilience.

You can expect a confidential, compassionate, and professional service where your story is heard, and your growth is honoured. My promise is to create a safe space where you feel supported, empowered, and ready to lead a happier, more meaningful life. Let’s take the next step together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I expect a private and confidential service?

Yes. Confidence in the security and privacy of the counselling process is paramount to counselling success. No third party will be given access to the information shared in therapy without your written permission. All content is held in the strictest confidence.

There is a mandatory obligation for a counsellor to inform appropriate authorities in the case where self-harm or harm to or from another is intended (our duty of care) or when a Mental Health Professional is subpoenaed for session notes by a court.

Individual counselling sessions are $130/session. In cases of financial hardship, I offer options to ensure those who need my service can access it. All counselling sessions must be paid for in full prior to the session commencing. This can be done via EFTPOS (credit or debit card) or electronic bank transfer.

Individual counselling sessions are 55 minutes in duration.

Both options are available to clients, depending on their preference.

The first session is an opportunity to meet and discuss your concerns, explore the nature and history of your issues and what you hope to achieve from coming to counselling. At the end of the session, a summary will be shared with you based on the information gathered from the discussion. This summary will include an agreed course of treatment and what to expect for future sessions. If you choose to continue with counselling, another appointment can be scheduled at this time.

This depends on the issue you want help resolving and the gains you are making from each counselling session. On average, people attend between 4 – 8 sessions. For some people only 1 or 2 sessions may be needed to work through concerns and achieve results. Others might choose to attend counselling for a longer period as they find ongoing sessions are providing them with ongoing benefits. You can choose to end counselling at any time.

No, referral from a GP is not required.

Unfortunately, no, there are no Medicare or private health insurance rebates available. Medicare rebates can only be accessed if you are diagnosed with a mental health condition (such as clinical depression or bi-polar disorder) and are assigned a mental health care plan by your GP, to see a psychologist.

If you need to reschedule or cancel your scheduled appointment, please do so as soon as possible. You can call or email me directly to make appointment changes.

Generally, within two or three days.
